I completed almost 60 distinct photography projects across 15 states, each varying in scale and significance.
At the start of this year, I took on several exhilarating photography projects that kept me on my toes. I was fortunate enough to capture moments of the electrifying atmosphere at Super Bowl LVII, experience great vibes on the beach with Phish in Riviera Maya, and capture the intense action of UFC 285, where Jon Jones claimed his first Heavyweight Championship. This stretch of events created many unforgettable moments and some of my favorite images were taken during this time. I still can't believe Jon Jones looked right into my lens for that shot!
Aside from being ringside at UFC, I also covered other sports this year. This included Preakness 148, the NFL Draft, MLB All-Star Weekend, and two college football games. Here, I found myself immersed in an evolving challenge. Beyond capturing the main action, my focus has expanded to encapsulate the entire fan experience - the palpable excitement, the anticipatory buzz among the crowds, and those candid, off-center moments that truly define an event's atmosphere. This shift in perspective wasn't just about skill mastery or navigating difficult lighting conditions; it also mirrored a broader trend that's reshaping the marketing landscape.
More than ever, there is a noticeable pivot in marketing strategies where the emphasis is placed on fostering the immersive fan experience. This approach goes beyond just promoting the main event; it's about engaging with audiences on a more personal and emotional level. It's about telling a richer story, one where the energy and emotion of the event are as much a part of the narrative as the main spectacle. In this way, each photo becomes a part of a greater whole, designed to engage audiences and blur the lines between spectator and participant.
Reflecting on 60 projects' worth of images, my journey continues to be about pursuing my deepest passions with unconditional love and without expectations, knowing they will support me more and more. Each step of this journey has been enriched by the incredible support and collaboration of the Alive Coverage team, whose dedication and talent have been fundamental in making these experiences and achievements possible. I can't wait to see what the future holds!
